CPTC Ltd provide a range of First Aid training courses throughout London and home counties. We deliver on-site training, at your convenience.

Our First Aid courses are accredited and HSE approved. They consist of both theoretical knowledge and practical sessions that are designed to develop ability and most importantly practical confidence and competence.

Entry requirements: Learners must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training.

This qualification is for individuals who have a specific interest or a responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to be able to provide CPR when dealing with an emergency which may involve using an AED.

The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of:

  • Resuscitation Council (UK)
  • Skills for Health Assessment Principles for First Aid Qualifications

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  • List actions to be taken in the event of an emergency occurring at work
  • Use cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods, including use of an AED
  • Provide first aid to an unconscious casualty
  • Provide first aid to a choking casualty
  • Recognise and carry out correct actions to control bleeding of wounds
  • Recognise and carry out correct actions for shock

Assessment method

This qualification is assessed by a practical demonstration and written/oral questioning.

  • Use cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods, including use of an AED

  • Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding, suspected injuries to chest, bones, muscles and joints
  • Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
  • Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with burns, scalds, eye injury and poisoning
  • Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness

There is also additional child-related training in recognition and appropriate treatment of febrile convulsion, meningitis, sickle cell anaemia and epilepsy.  The following subjects will also be covered:

  • Differences in treating children
  • Reasons why children get hurt
  • Use of PPE in children and infant and child CPR

This qualification is assessed by practical demonstrations and written exam.

  • Recognise when someone is unwell
  • Know the causes of cardiac arrest
  • Know the chain of survival
